The new UHaul is now the only truck to use aluminum for its roof.
That’s the way the company wants to be known.
“The fact that we are the only UHuload truck with this technology, we are proud,” said Matt Miller, vice president of marketing and customer experience.
The aluminum truck, known as UHULoad 5, uses a new roof coating called Teflon.
That coating is made of polyethylene, which is more durable than regular polyethylen.
Miller said the truck also is a lighter weight than previous versions.
“We’re not going to be as efficient as the competition,” Miller said.
“The weight and the weight of the aluminum is not a concern with our truck.
The reason we’re using this material is because we’re trying to get our weight down.”UHauls previous truck, the UHool, uses aluminum as the main building material.
Miller said the company has received more than 1,000 requests for the aluminum trucks to be made with the new material.
That includes trucks from other UHuls.
“As we get closer to the market, we will be working with our suppliers and partners to see if they are interested in our new aluminum roof and other improvements,” Miller wrote in a statement.
